Sandalwood forests naturally growing in heartland of Idukki district in Kerala and growing in Marayoor. Marayoor, located at a distance of 40 km from Munnar .The place enjoys a cool weather and high rainfall. Sandalwood forests and Factory of the Forest Department, Children's Park, Rajiv Gandhi National Park, Thoovanam Waterfalls, Marayoor Jaggery, and century-old cells of Hermits are some amazing places to see here. In this places famous to sandal wood forests. A reduced rainfall is more suitable for the growth of the best types of sandalwood trees from which good quality oil can also be extracted. Sandalwood is a small evergreen tree attaining a height of 40-50 feet and a girth of 3-8 feet. Sandalwood has a lot of medicinal values.
