Margi theatre showcases the traditional art forms of Kerala.The performances are held on Friday evenings. The shows are arranged in ethnic surroundings. Here guests can also watch Kathakali artistes in the process of making up their face. Margi has its activities at two places in Thiruvananthapuram, the first at Valiyasala (Margi Valiyasala) where Kootiyattam, Nangyarkoothu, Chakyarkoothu and Paatakom are performed and aspiring artists trained; the other near East Fort (Margi Fort) which is devoted exclusively to Kathakali. The organization also imparts training in traditional art forms and follows the Gurukula system.It is a centre which gives an enriching learning experience about the cultural wealth of Kerala.
