We had come to Thiruvananthapuram for a conference which concluded day before. Before leaving for Delhi, we colleagues decided on a trip to Ponmudi and Thenmala. Before noon, we set out for Ponmudi in a hired taxi and enjoyed the drive with deep curves and good scenery.There were forests and tea estates on the way.We stopped at a tea estate en route and had our packed lunch. After lunch, the uphill drive continued and within an hour we reached the peak.We enjoyed the trek upto the top and the views were fabulous.As the mist started enveloping, we started the descent. After resting awhile, we drove back and we were staying at a friends place near Kallar. After refreshing at our friend's place, it was a warm dinner and rest. The next morning, we resumed our trip to Thenmala, a beautiful green place indeed. We went to the dam area first and went for boat ride. Next we entered the tourist facilitation centre and their pamphlets were so informative and the map helped us to choose our activities.We all tried the rock climbing and nature trail. While some in the group ventured for river crossing, I didnt. Instead we visited the deer park and butterfly centre. As time went by, it was near evening and we had to get back back to Tvm as our return flight was next morning. Before leaving we watched the musical fountain show. I was told that Palaruvi waterfalls was nearby but lack of time, we could not visit it.
