Malliyoor is a small famous temple town in Kottayam.It is famous for the Malliyoor Maha Ganapathy Temple. Lord Ganesha or Mahaganapathi is the deity of this temple with a young Sree Krishna seated on the lap of Lord Ganesha.. It is a very ancient temple. Those who perform the pooja of this temple belong to the Manayathatillam. Only a member of Malliyoor clan can become the 'Melshanti'. Thousands of devotees flock to the temple at Malliyoor seeking eternal salvation and peace from evils.
