Mannar is an important town of Alappuzha district. It lies mid way between two major towns Mavelikara and Tiruvalla, on State highway 6. It is situated on the banks of the Pampa River and Manimala River. Mannar is very famous for the bronze industry and the artefacts from this town have found place in churches, temples and museums all over India. Lamps, temple bells etc are the major products designed by the craftsmen of this town. It is known as The Bell Metal Town. Religious attractions near Mannar include Parumala church, Panayannar kavu devi temple, Thrikkuratti Mahadevar Temple , Mannar Juma Masjid, and Chakkulathu Kavu Devi Temple. The annual Mahathma Boat Race, conducted during Onam festival season, attracts lot of visitors and water sports lovers including foreigners.
