Both Perinthalmanna province and Angadipuram province were together known as Angadipuram.It was ruled by the Valluvakkonathiri -the eldest member of Ayirazhi- Kadannamanna-aripra 'Kovilakam'. From 1835 until late 19th century, violent disturbances surfaced from time to time in different parts of Malabar region. The Moppila rebellion of 1921 also affected Perinthalmanna.
