Thrissur is the state’s pre eminent and exotic destination, sobriqueted as the ‘Cultural capital of Kerala’. The cultural enigma is prevalent in every aspect of Thrissur. The very name Thrissur derived from 'Thiru-Shiva-Perur' which means "The city with the name of Lord Siva", which itself has the flavour of culture in it. Moving on to the prominent Thrissur pooram, the magnificent temples and several performance academies, each corner of Thrissur has culture engraved in it. It is bound on the south by Ernakulam and Idukki, Palakkad in the East, Mallapuram in the North and to its West, a short 54 kms away, lies the Arabian Sea. The district is fed by the Periyar, Chalakudy, Karuvannur and the Ponnani rivers which all flow from the Western Ghats to meet the Arabian Sea. Today it’s a bustling market town, a temple town and above all, a cultural destination on the world tourism map.

By Air - Nearest Airport - Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery is just 58 kms away. Calicut Airport - 163 km North of Trichur. By Rail - There is a main railway station in Thrissur town which is the halting point of all express trains. It is well connected with almost all the major towns and cities of India. By Road -Thrissur is on N-H-47 that links from Kanyakumari. Regular Bus Services from Trivandrum. 32 kms off N-H-17 that links Mumbai to Edapally. For local transport there are buses, taxis and auto rickshaws also available.The KSRTC bus station, near the railway station operates long distance and inter-state services. Sakthan Thampuran bus stand is 1 km away from town. The north bus stand is in the heart of the town.
